Hawaii Ocean Times Series Station - HOGS 2004

This cruise aboard the R/V Kilo Moana in March, 2004 departed from Honolulu, HI. Six stations were sampled to the west and north of the island of Ohau on a transect to the Hawaii Ocean Time Series Station (HOTS). This project focuses on the biogeochemistry of polymer gels and their interaction with bacteria. Water was collected from several depths in the euphotic zone and samples were taken for a number of analyses, including bacterial abundance, bacterial community structure (FISH), community activity (Micro-FISH), chlorophyll a, bacterial chlorophyll a, and the abundance of aerobic anoxigenic (AAP) bacteria.
